LOST MAGIC GARDEN

Dirt is always dirt, and any garden can be the garden of Eden.

No paradise birds sing their songs here, but the lush and verdant plants entwine with steel, defying human construction. Goldfish break the surface of the water and nature's eternal mystery unfolds. Isn't it a curious wonder? Nothing stays hidden behind the transparent walls: play your antics, watch the fungi sprout.

Not confined but preserved in the glass house is a piece of a realm that many of us long for. Above the rooftops of a city the light shines brighter and warmer, obscuring the urban surroundings. Is the paradise really lost?

As a photographer, I immersed myself in the surreal world of a greenhouse and let the magic take hold of me.

OUR DIVINE HANDS

Has all the myth and magic disappeared?

By using the possibilities of digital collage I make visible what is often conceived invisible. I use the elements of earth and stone to suggest that there is a subterranean flow of natural force that one can connect to through a ritual. The ritual I depict is based on hand gestures and objects or places that have a symbolic meaning to that ritual.

I focus on the theme transformation: human hands have the power to transform the nature and the natural forces have the power to transform humans. This exchange and transformation should be equal - and thus the rope as a ritualistic object symbolizes the way humans are tied to the nature and should retain a respect towards it.

OUR DIVINE HANDS: earth / magic / necromancy

i did like the interpretation of human agency in death and decay.
our divine hands do not always do the best of things.

and the asphalt / earth transformation talk.

i still remember a teacher who was once shocked that how could i do something dark in my works. if she saw me now... not that this random assignment is the darkest thing i'm working on.

ps. i would like take that cheesy diamond away
